Woolmark "Tiverton"

Documentary · 2025
Music Composition · Sound Design · Audio Post-production

THE PROJECT

Tiverton is a 15-minute documentary exploring ecology, agriculture and the relationship between people, landscape and wool production.

Directed and produced by Mitchell Oakley Smith, the film follows holistic sheep farmer Jo Bear and the relationship between farming, natural systems and the production of wool.

THE MUSIC & SOUND
Gary Sinclair was responsible for music and sound across the complete 15-minute film.

The composition responds to the landscape, imagery and pace of the documentary, leaving space for dialogue and environmental sound.

Handling composition, sound design and audio post-production as one process allowed music, location recordings, atmosphere and silence to form a complete soundtrack, rather than operating as separate elements.

“Gary approached Tiverton with a real sensitivity to the film’s subject and pace. Rather than imposing music on the film, he found a musical language that grew naturally from the landscape, imagery and story. His ability to handle both composition and audio post- production gave the soundtrack a coherence and level of detail that carried through to the finished film.”
